Prior to being awarded this job in December 2003, Dixie-Southern had fabricated over 50 exhaust stacks for various customers throughout the world. Our Company's expertise in this area aided Zachry in selecting Dixie as the project's sole fabricator.
The job included four stacks to be fabricated, fully assembled, painted and transported to the Manatee power plant in Parrish, FL. Each stack at 250,000 pounds, measured 19 feet in diameter and 145 feet long. Dixie-Southern coordinated all transport logistics.
They began performing work on the project in April 2004 and completed and delivered the stacks 22 weeks later. Numerous local newspapers covered the transportation of the job because of the extensive planning and logistics involved in moving the large stacks.

Dixie began working with Black & Veatch in 1992, and has since completed over 100 projects for them.
In 2006 Black & Veatch awarded the Alabama Electric Company "Lowman Plant" project to Dixie- Southern based on our fabrication capabilities, ability to meet strict deadlines and maintain a tight production schedule. The request entailed fabrication of 51 duct sections and four complete selective catalytic reduction (SCR) units, each with three catalyst support levels. Various sub-assemblies of the duct measured up to 26' x 13' and the total project, including the SCR and duct work, weighed 1900 tons. Over 285 truckloads were shipped to the site through the duration of the project.
Dixie-Southern began performing work on the project in December 2006 and completed it ahead of field schedule in February of 2008.

Nebraska City needed to construct a 660 MW coal-fired power plant in Nebraska City. Dixie-Southern was awarded the pipe fabrication services in July 2006. Prior to the Nebraska City project, Dixie had fabricated thousands of feet of large diameter pipe for numerous power plants.
The project included over 217,000 pounds of materials to fabricate 120 sections of circulating water pipe ranging from 24 to 78 inches in diameter. All 120 sections were delivered 1,500 miles to Nebraska City Power Partners over a two-week period, requiring 30 truck loads.
Dixie-Southern began fabricating the pipe in November 2006 and completed delivery March 2007.

Dixie-Southern was awarded a large butane splitter project through Black & Veatch in 2007. Scheduling and quality control were main considerations when the project was awarded. The splitter was fabricated to ASME code standards, requiring weekly customer inspections and numerous internal design considerations. Upon completion, the vessel was hydro tested, blasted and epoxy coated at Dixie's facility in Duette, FL. Our facility also fabricated six shipping cradles for the 178 foot pressure vessel.
Dixie Southern began this project in May 2007, delivered ahead of schedule and coordinated all shipping logistics by freighter from the nearby Port of Manatee in February 2008.

The Kansas City Power & Light Iatan project was awarded to Dixie-Southern by Burns & McDonnell, serving as the general contractor for the construction of the plant's steam, condensate and cooling water systems. Dixie-Southern fabricated the water & steam tanks for the entire project based on their ability to fabricate, paint and deliver the tanks on time.
The project consisted of 15 shop-fabricated tanks for use in each of the steam, condensate and cooling water systems. The tanks were of various sizes and dimensions, including both carbon steel and stainless steel materials. Fabrication began in April 2008, the final coatings were applied in July 2008 and the units were shipped 1200 miles to Weston, MS shortly thereafter.
